Transparent Information About Therapy
Do you work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and different religious identities?
Yes, absolutely! I am committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and non-judgmental space for individuals of all identities. I have experience working with LGBTQIA+ clients, people from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds, and individuals from various religious beliefs. My approach is rooted in respect, understanding, and empowering you to feel fully supported and heard, no matter your background.
How does virtual therapy work?
Virtual therapy allows us to meet from the comfort of your own space, using a secure online platform. You’ll need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection and a quiet, private space where you can focus. Sessions are just like in-person therapy, except we connect via video chat. I’ll walk you through any technical setup before we start if you need it, and I’m always here to support you if you have any questions.
What will my first session be like?
Your first session is all about getting to know each other and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your goals and what you hope to achieve in therapy. I’ll also share my approach, so you feel comfortable and clear about how we’ll work together. By the end of the session, we’ll have a better sense of what direction your therapy will take, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have.
How often is therapy?
The frequency of therapy depends on your individual needs. Typically, sessions are held weekly or bi-weekly, especially when you’re getting started. Over time, we can adjust the schedule to better fit your goals and progress. My goal is to ensure you feel supported at a pace that works for you.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies for each individual, depending on your unique goals and the work we’re doing together. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others may choose to continue for a longer period of time to dive deeper into their healing. I’ll regularly check in to make sure that you’re getting the support you need, and we can always adjust the frequency or length of therapy as you progress.
What if you don’t take my insurance?
If I don’t take your insurance, I offer self-pay options that can still make therapy affordable and accessible. I can also provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I’m happy to discuss fees, payment options, and how we can make therapy work for you. Let’s chat if you have any questions about the process!
What if you are in network with my insurance but I don’t want to use it?
Some clients prefer to pay for services out of pocket, and that’s completely okay! You may choose not to submit claims to your insurance for privacy or other personal reasons. This gives you more control over your treatment and avoids any potential limitations set by insurance companies. However, if you opt out of using your insurance, please note that you cannot submit a superbill to your insurance for reimbursement. If you decide to pay out-of-pocket, we can discuss self-pay rates and payment options that work best for you. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Do you offer any discounted rates?
I understand that times can be tough, which is why I have a limited number of sliding scale (reduced fee) spots available upon request. These sessions are based on financial need and are designed to make therapy more accessible for those experiencing difficulty paying. If you’ve had a significant change in income or are facing financial challenges, please feel free to ask about this option.
If you qualify for a sliding scale or pro-bono session, we’ll discuss a payment schedule that works for you and provide you with a Good Faith Estimate for the cost of services. This estimate follows the guidelines set by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to ensure transparency and clarity regarding payment.
